In 2006, Post #163 established the American Legion Post #163 scholarship. The scholarship was established to honor the memory of Past Commander Larry D. Wiezorek and others who served their country.  The scholarship was established through the generosity of memorial gifts made in honor of Larry D. Wiezorek, who was raised in attendance school in North Platte, NE, and served more than 30 years in the armed forces. The scholarship is available for veterans who honorably served in our military from the counties surrounding Lincoln County, and who intend to pursue a post-secondary education.
